Aviation Assistant – Airport Operations

About the role

The Aviation Assistant will support airport operations for UNHAS Madagascar at Antananarivo International Airport. Reporting to the Aviation Officer, the role works closely with the UNHAS team and airport stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient flight handling in a complex security environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate flight arrivals and departures, including ground handling, passenger processing, and cargo management.
• Ensure compliance with UNHAS and airport procedures, handling additional security and operational formalities.
• Liaise with airport authorities, airlines, and service providers to resolve operational issues.
• Maintain accurate records of flight movements, fuel usage, and operational reports.
• Support the Aviation Officer in monitoring flight schedules and implementing corrective actions.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in airport or aviation operations, preferably in humanitarian or UN contexts.
• Ability to work autonomously in a high‑pressure, security‑sensitive environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
