Programme Officer – Child Protection & Social Behaviour Change

About the role

The Programme Officer (Child Protection/Social Behaviour Change) will be based in the newly opened Mahajanga Zone Office in Madagascar. Reporting to the Chief Field Office, the incumbent will serve as the focal point for child protection and social‑behaviour‑change programming, linking planning, implementation, monitoring and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the design, implementation and monitoring of child protection and social‑behaviour‑change activities.
• Facilitate community engagement and partnership coordination to create a safer environment for children.
• Ensure results are tracked against programme objectives and contribute to reporting cycles.
• Provide technical guidance in collaboration with the Country Office sections in Antananarivo.
• Support the integration of multisectoral approaches within the Mahajanga field office.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent experience in child protection, social development or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in programme planning, implementation and results monitoring.
• Ability to work effectively with partners, government officials and community stakeholders.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
