Senior Rapid Response Officer

About the role

FHI 360 is seeking a Senior Rapid Response Officer to lead the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) emergency response activities in Madagascar. The role provides technical guidance, oversees implementation, and coordinates outbreak response teams across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Direct day‑to‑day implementation of emergency preparedness and response activities under STRIDES.
• Conduct epidemic preparedness assessments and lead intra‑action and after‑action reviews.
• Update and implement Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) for health emergencies.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Public Health and other stakeholders to plan and sustain effective outbreak responses.
• Develop and execute training strategies, facilitate capacity‑building sessions, and produce scientific and technical materials.
• Prepare donor deliverable reports, draft publications, and manage external communications.
• Lead the creation or revision of best‑practice documents and coordinate with USG and host‑country partners.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in epidemic preparedness, response planning, and SOP development.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries and multi‑agency teams.
• Strong judgment in evaluating evolving outbreak situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and publications.
