Country Director, Madagascar

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is seeking a Country Director to lead its Madagascar program. Reporting to the Regional Director, the role oversees all conservation activities, strategic planning, and partnerships across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Madagascar strategic plan aligned with WCS 2030 and Regional 2025 strategies.
• Lead budgeting, financial management, and administrative systems for the country office and field sites.
• Coordinate with senior managers, including Deputy Directors, Finance Director, and HR Manager, to ensure effective program delivery.
• Engage government agencies, multilateral and bilateral donors, and private partners to secure support and align objectives.
• Represent WCS in national and regional forums, advocating for wildlife and community‑based conservation.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in conservation, natural resources, or related sectors.
• Strong track record of strategic planning, program development, and partnership building.
• Excellent understanding of Madagascar’s social, political, and ecological context.
• Ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and complex budgets.
