Engineering Manager – Python & AI Platform

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing technology business in London that is investing heavily in the platforms, APIs and data infrastructure needed to power future AI capabilities. As Engineering Manager you will create and lead a brand‑new software engineering function that builds scalable Python services, API architecture and large‑scale data integrations supporting AI products across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, build and grow a new engineering team from the ground up.
• Lead engineers delivering Python‑based APIs and backend services.
• Design and drive integration of complex, high‑volume data sets from multiple sources.
• Collaborate with Product, Data and Architecture teams to define technical strategy.
• Establish engineering best practices, delivery processes and a high‑performance team culture.
• Support architectural decisions around scalability, performance and reliability.
• Coach and develop engineers, fostering a collaborative environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• Strong background in backend engineering, preferably with Python.
• Track record delivering API‑first platforms and distributed systems.
• Experience in data‑intensive environments and large‑scale integrations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to balance technical leadership with people management.
