Space Applications Expert, Earth Observation & Copernicus

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified Space Applications Expert to support the Africa‑EU Space Partnership Programme (AESPP Boost). The expert will lead the development, deployment and uptake of Earth Observation services, especially those based on Copernicus data, to address climate, environmental and development challenges across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver Earth Observation services and applications using Copernicus products for sectors such as early‑warning, climate monitoring, agriculture, water management and biodiversity.
• Support partner institutions in Africa and the EU to integrate EO solutions into policy and operational frameworks.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange, capacity building and stakeholder engagement to promote uptake of EO services.
• Contribute to proposal preparation, reporting and technical documentation for the AESPP Boost project.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in geomatics, remote sensing, environmental science, meteorology, engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Earth Observation, geospatial services or climate/environmental services.
• At least 4 years of experience designing or delivering EO services with Copernicus data.
• Demonstrated experience working with African institutions or users is an asset.
• Excellent command of English; working knowledge of French or Portuguese is a plus.
