Remote Sensing, GIS & MEAL Manager

About the role

The Remote Sensing, GIS & MEAL Manager will support the IKI Growing Greener project in Toliara, Madagascar. The role combines monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) expertise with geospatial analysis to track project performance and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy an integrated MEAL system, including a functional project database.
• Integrate remote sensing and GIS tools to enable spatial and temporal monitoring of indicators.
• Develop a results‑and‑performance monitoring framework aligned with strategic priorities, donor requirements and partner needs.
• Define key performance indicators, monitoring protocols and dashboards for decision‑making.
• Contribute to the development and operationalisation of the Africa Rangeland Watch (ARW) platform.
• Ensure data quality, consistency and integrity through validation and quality‑control processes.
• Support strategic and operational planning of the H4H programme and follow‑up with implementing partners.
• Provide capacity‑building support and develop data‑management tools and monitoring mechanisms, including reference sites and time‑series data collection.
• Guarantee compliance with donor safeguards, gender requirements and reporting obligations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in remote sensing, GIS and MEAL for environmental or conservation projects.
• Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation frameworks and indicator development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, local partners and communities.
• Experience in capacity building and data‑management system design.
• Knowledge of gender integration and donor safeguard requirements.
