Accounting Assistant – Financial Support Role

About the role

The Accounting Assistant provides day‑to‑day financial, accounting and administrative support to IITA Madagascar, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and compliance with internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly expense reports, journals and ledgers.
• Perform bank and cash balance reconciliations each month.
• Track and reconcile travel and cash advances, ensuring timely reimbursements.
• Verify supporting documents before filing financial reports.
• Ensure monthly withheld taxes are remitted to authorities on schedule.
• Maintain and archive accounting documents, including payment files and vouchers.
• Prepare fuel pre‑payment files and reconcile fuel accounts monthly.
• Monitor vehicle use, maintenance and assist with unit inventory management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar accounting role within a well‑structured environment.
• Experience in development projects or international organisations is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
