Accounting Assistant

About the role

The Accounting Assistant provides day‑to‑day financial, accounting, and administrative support to IITA Madagascar, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and compliance with internal policies. This role contributes to smooth office operations and supports institutional activities through diligent financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly expense reports, journals and ledgers.
• Perform bank and cash balance reconciliations each month.
• Track and reconcile travel and cash advances, ensuring timely reimbursements.
• Verify supporting documents before filing financial reports.
• Ensure monthly withheld taxes are remitted to authorities on schedule.
• Custody and filing of accounting documents, including payment files and journal vouchers.
• Manage fuel prepayments, reconcile fuel accounts, and monitor vehicle use and maintenance.
• Assist with unit inventory management and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar role within a well‑structured environment.
• Experience in development projects or international organisations is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with accounting software.
