Agricultural Advisor – 2‑Year Contract in Antananarivo

About the role

The Agricultural Advisor will provide hands‑on technical support to rice producers and producer organisations in Antananarivo and surrounding rural areas. Working under the Project Head of Mission, the advisor will implement field activities of the RIZ PLUS project and ensure that good agricultural practices are adopted.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver on‑site technical assistance to individual producers and producer organisations.
• Promote and disseminate Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for rice cultivation.
• Organise and lead farmer field schools, demonstration plots and practical training sessions.
• Support the structuring and functioning of producer organisations in line with project strategy.
• Identify training needs, link producers with input suppliers and market outlets, and monitor post‑harvest management.
• Collect, consolidate and transmit technical monitoring data and performance indicators.
• Prepare weekly and monthly technical reports and participate in coordination meetings.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, social and gender inclusion safeguards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (Bac+3) in agronomy or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience providing technical support to agricultural producers.
• Experience in rural development projects is an asset.
• Fluency in French and Malagasy.
• Ability to travel frequently to rural sites and work independently under pressure.
