Communication Consultant for IOM Madagascar Project

About the role

The Communication Consultant will support IOM Madagascar’s pilot programme on clean cooking, reforestation and rural roads by developing and implementing communication, visibility and public information activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate external communications strategies for the project, ensuring alignment with IOM’s strategic priorities and accurate migration narratives.
• Provide technical advice to senior management on strategic communications, media outreach and internal communications.
• Supervise the CO’s communications staff and ensure all content meets IOM brand guidelines.
• Develop and manage content for campaigns, social media, website and multimedia materials, including photos and videos from field missions.
• Prepare media key messages, statements, talking points and support high‑profile events and donor visits.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or a university degree with four years of experience.
• Proven experience as a writer, editor and content producer/manager in journalism or public information roles, preferably in the region.

Required skills

• Content creation and editorial management for stories, blogs, videos and social media.
• Media engagement and development of key messages, statements and talking points.
• Field photography and video shooting for multimedia storytelling.
• Knowledge of gender, diversity and inclusion principles in communications.
