Finance and Accounting Coordinator

About the role

Conservation International is seeking a Finance and Accounting Coordinator to support its program in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, you will ensure that all accounting activities comply with CI policies, donor regulations, and statutory requirements while maintaining robust internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable transactions, reviewing and approving documentation in the AP module.
• Process travel advances, expense reports, and project advances in line with CI and donor policies.
• Coordinate monthly close, monitor balance‑sheet accounts, and support cash‑based donor reporting.
• Oversee cash management, including timely collections, deposits, and bank account monitoring.
• Maintain fixed‑asset records, reconcile inventory lists, and ensure accurate asset accounting.
• Assist with internal and external audit inquiries and provide related documentation.
• Supervise up to three junior staff members.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within an international NGO or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, statutory regulations, and internal control principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program finance staff and other stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and timeliness of financial information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Business Worlds accounting system.
