Postdoctoral Fellow – Clinical Epidemiology / Pharmacoepidemiology

About the role

The Clinical Epidemiology Center at the VA St. Louis Health Care System is hiring multiple Postdoctoral Fellows to conduct real‑world evidence research using the Veterans Health Administration’s national electronic health records. Fellows will design and execute observational studies, develop analysis plans, and contribute to high‑impact publications.

Key responsibilities

• Design observational studies and emulate target trials using VHA data.
• Develop statistical analysis plans and implement reproducible workflows.
• Conduct and interpret causal‑inference analyses, including confounding control.
• Draft manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations; respond to peer‑review feedback.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and drive methodological innovation.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
• Strong SAS programming skills.
• Excellent scientific writing and communication abilities.
• Commitment to collaborative, team‑based research.

• Experience with large datasets/EHR‑based research
