Programme Officer - Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development

About the role

SEED Madagascar is seeking a motivated Programme Officer to support its agriculture and livelihoods project in one of the country’s most biodiverse regions. The role focuses on strengthening food security, promoting climate‑smart farming and advancing sustainable land management through community‑led approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of agricultural interventions.
• Support fundraising activities and develop proposals to secure project funding.
• Prepare regular reports, documentation and evaluations for donors and partners.
• Collaborate with national and international staff to ensure alignment with programme objectives.
• Facilitate participatory workshops with local communities to identify priorities and track progress.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of field experience in agricultural development or related sectors.
• Strong interest in climate‑resilient farming systems and sustainable land management.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members and technical teams.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with project development, funding proposals and reporting.
• Basic understanding of climate‑smart agriculture practices.
