Project Coordinator

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a Project Coordinator for its Toamasina office in Madagascar. The role is a short‑term, two‑and‑a‑half‑month local contract focused on implementing and monitoring child protection and community‑based programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive implementation strategy with clear benchmarks, work plans and tools.
• Monitor, evaluate and document programme activities, producing monthly internal progress reports and other required documentation.
• Assess implementation progress against plans on a monthly basis and recommend corrective actions.
• Support and strengthen local partners on thematic areas related to Save the Children activities.
• Ensure community‑based protection mechanisms are implemented, supported and documented.
• Conduct field monitoring visits to guide and verify proper execution of activities.
• Promote coordination and collaboration across program teams, fostering a positive working environment.
• Manage resources efficiently to keep costs low and maintain workplace safety.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in social work, social sciences or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience with humanitarian or development organisations, including project implementation, monitoring, evaluation and child‑protection standards.
• Strong planning, organisational and people‑management skills, with proven financial and budgetary control experience.
• Ability to work in remote areas under stress, communicate effectively with local communities and partners.
• Fluency in Malagasy and French; basic English proficiency.
