Research Assistant – Agricultural Research (2‑Year Contract)

About the role

The Research Assistant will provide technical and research support for IITA's agricultural research and development activities in Antananarivo. This 2‑year renewable contract role contributes to data management, protocol development, regulatory coordination, and scientific reporting aimed at improving productivity, food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the implementation of research activities.
• Consolidate databases and assess training needs.
• Obtain import authorizations in collaboration with national research systems and regulatory bodies.
• Analyze research results, write reports, and assist in publishing findings (reports, blogs, journal articles).
• Assist project teams in drafting research protocols, demonstration videos, and related materials.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the line supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in administration, agronomic science, or a related field; project management qualification is desirable.
• Proven management and coordination ability, preferably within an international organization.
• Understanding of CGIAR administrative systems is a plus.
• Bilingual with excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
