Senior Cyber Security Engineer – Fully Remote

About the role

This position is for a senior cyber security engineer who will help a leading UK retailer strengthen its security posture across a hybrid on‑premise and Azure environment. The role is fully remote and sits within the ‘prevent and protect’ pillar of the cyber function, focusing on design and implementation rather than SOC monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Improve security across a hybrid infrastructure that includes Azure and on‑premise systems.
• Design and implement security controls for identity, endpoint and infrastructure platforms.
• Provide practical security guidance to infrastructure and technology projects.
• Strengthen Azure security capabilities, including identity, access management and cloud protection.
• Collaborate with the cyber leadership and infrastructure teams to embed security into platforms, projects and cloud services.

Required profile

• Strong experience as a Cyber Security Engineer, Infrastructure Security Engineer or a similar role.
• Solid understanding of infrastructure security, covering identity, networking and endpoint protection.
• Hands‑on experience securing hybrid environments with exposure to Azure.
• Proven ability to explain the reasoning behind security controls and architectural decisions.
