Technical Advisor – Global Health Security

About the role

The Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) Technical Advisor will lead technical activities to improve global health security in Madagascar. Working closely with laboratory, surveillance, epidemiology and rapid response teams, the advisor will ensure alignment with USG priorities and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for STRIDES Madagascar, guiding the development of country‑specific workplans and budgets.
• Produce high‑quality technical deliverables, including workplans, reports, and success stories, on schedule and within budget.
• Ensure all technical activities comply with contract terms, government regulations, quality standards, and FHI 360 policies.
• Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) advisors to define indicators and report progress.
• Assess subcontractor performance and adjust technical activities as needed.
• Partner with communications leads to capture and share case studies, photos, and outreach materials.
• Represent STRIDES at global health security events and maintain relationships with national and multisectoral partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in global health security, infectious disease detection, or related public‑health programs.
• Strong understanding of USG health security priorities and international technical standards.
• Excellent coordination skills with government agencies, NGOs, and technical partners.
