Wave Manager

About the role

The Wave Manager leads the student cohort (the "wave"), tutors and community mentors at Onja, a social‑enterprise training under‑privileged youth in Madagascar to become world‑class software developers. This person acts as the primary decision‑maker for individual students, ensuring their growth, wellbeing and successful progression through the intensive program.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct quarterly 1:1 meetings with each student to motivate, set goals and track progress.
• Evaluate student performance quarterly and make critical decisions regarding support, including hardship interventions.
• Lead and moderate big‑circle meetings and act as the final authority on student matters.
• Oversee the community mentorship programme, including hiring, dismissing, training and performance reviews of tutors and mentors.
• Collaborate with the Education Curriculum Designer to create timetables and manage documentation.
• Discipline students when necessary, issue warning letters and manage student contracts.
