Agricultural Advisor – 2‑Year Renewable Contract

About the role

The Agricultural Advisor will provide hands‑on technical support to rice producers and producer organisations in Antananarivo and surrounding rural areas. Working under the Project Head of Mission, the advisor will implement field activities of the RIZ PLUS project, promote good agricultural practices and help improve post‑harvest management and market access.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance to individual producers and producer organisations on rice cultivation and related practices.
• Organise and lead farmer field schools, demonstration plots and practical training sessions.
• Support the structuring and functioning of producer organisations in line with project strategy.
• Identify training needs, collect monitoring data and report technical performance indicators.
• Facilitate links between producers, input suppliers and market outlets.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, social and inclusion safeguards.
• Represent the project to local authorities, producers and organisations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (Bac+3) in agronomy or a related field.
• At least three years of experience providing technical support to agricultural producers or in extension services.
• Experience in rural development projects is an asset.
• Fluent in French and Malagasy.
• Ability to work independently, travel frequently to rural sites and handle pressure.
