Head Accountant (Chef Comptable)

About the role

CANAL+ Group, a global media and entertainment company operating in more than 70 countries, is looking for a Head Accountant (Chef Comptable) for its Antananarivo office. This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for managing the company's accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise general ledger activities and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
• Prepare periodic financial statements in line with group standards and local regulations
• Monitor cash flow, reconcile accounts and oversee closing processes, including month-end and year-end reporting
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and support tax and regulatory filings
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to management
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, improve internal controls and contribute to process optimization and system enhancements

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certifications such as expert-comptable are a plus
• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a multinational or media/telecommunications environment
• Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team, with strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication in French; professional English is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong technical accounting knowledge: general ledger management, financial reporting and account reconciliation
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• Proficiency in accounting and ERP software, advanced Excel and reporting tools
• Knowledge of local accounting standards, tax regulations and compliance requirements, and audit processes
