Head of Ocean Freight – Lead P&L for Madagascar

About the role

You will develop and execute plans to drive business growth in Madagascar’s Ocean Freight market, aligned with global trade strategies and in active collaboration with overseas trade‑lane partners. You will own the full profit and loss (P&L) for Ocean Freight in the country and lead a high‑performing team to deliver operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement growth plans for Ocean Freight, focusing on strategic trade lanes and partnership coordination.
• Drive controlled SME growth in collaboration with Field Sales and Route Development Managers.
• Build and nurture relationships with existing and prospective customers to expand market share and increase gross profit.
• Lead participation in globally led RFQs, supporting new business acquisition and customer retention.
• Oversee service delivery teams, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and continuous improvement of quality and efficiency.
• Own the full Ocean Freight P&L (FCL, LCL, Bulk, Reefer, OMS, Rail), managing budgeting, pricing, cost control and timely billing.
• Negotiate contracts and service level agreements with carriers, truckers and other service providers, monitoring performance and optimizing charges.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in ocean freight or logistics management.
