Language Specialist – Annotation (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Language Specialist to annotate, review, and validate language data for advanced AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems. The role is fully remote and involves ensuring linguistic accuracy, consistency, and cultural relevance across diverse datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Annotate and review text, speech, or conversational datasets according to project guidelines.
• Label data for parts of speech, sentiment, intent, syntax, and other linguistic features.
• Ensure cultural and contextual appropriateness of annotated data.
• Develop and refine annotation guidelines and documentation.
• Conduct quality assurance checks and measure inter‑annotator agreement.
• Provide feedback to improve annotation workflows and standards.
• Support multilingual or domain‑specific annotation projects when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Languages, or a related field.
• Native or near‑native proficiency in the target language(s).
• Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, and language structure.
• Experience with linguistic annotation or data labeling projects.
• Familiarity with NLP concepts and AI workflows.
• Multilingual capabilities are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with annotation tools such as Label Studio, Prodigy, or ELAN.
• Knowledge of corpus linguistics or discourse analysis.
