National Consultant – Health Financing Assessment for Vaccines & Nutrition (Remote)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior national consultant to lead an evidence‑generation project on provincial planning, budgeting, procurement and primary health‑care service delivery for vaccines and nutrition commodities in South Africa. The assignment is remote and lasts for 12 months.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse data on health financing, budgeting and procurement decisions for vaccines and nutrition commodities.
• Conduct policy analysis of health‑system and procurement frameworks.
• Engage with key informants and stakeholders across provincial health systems.
• Document findings and formulate actionable recommendations.

Required profile

• MA or equivalent in Health Economics, Health Financing, Public Health, Economics, Health Policy Management or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in healthcare financing and health‑systems research.
• Demonstrated expertise in health economics, public‑sector budgeting and procurement analysis.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
