Nutrition Specialist (Fixed-Term) – Ambovombe, Madagascar

About the role

The Nutrition Specialist will be based at UNICEF’s Field Office in Ambovombe and will lead nutrition programming across the Grand Sud regions of Madagascar (Androy, Anosy, and Atsimo‑Andrefana). Reporting to the Nutrition Chief and the Field Office Chief, the incumbent will provide technical leadership, coordinate interventions, and ensure effective delivery of maternal, infant and child nutrition initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the nutrition programme in the assigned area, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s strategic plans and results‑based management approach.
• Coordinate nutrition interventions across the three Grand Sud regions, providing technical guidance to sub‑national stakeholders and partners.
• Support programme development, planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of nutrition activities.
• Deliver technical and operational support to ensure effective implementation of nutrition projects.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives within the nutrition sector.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Nutritional Epidemiology, Global Health or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in designing, managing and evaluating nutrition programmes, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of maternal, infant and child nutrition and of results‑based management methodologies.
