Nutrition Specialist – Fixed Term (Ambovombe, Madagascar)

About the role

The Nutrition Specialist will be based in the UNICEF Field Office in Ambovombe, Madagascar, reporting to the Nutrition Chief and the Field Office Chief. The role leads the nutrition programme across the Grand Sud regions (Androy, Anosy, Atsimo‑Andrefana), providing technical leadership, coordination and oversight to sub‑national partners.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development, planning and preparation of nutrition interventions aligned with UNICEF strategic plans.
• Manage, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on programme progress using results‑based management approaches.
• Provide technical guidance and operational support to ensure effective delivery of maternal, infant and child nutrition activities.
• Coordinate nutrition efforts across the three Grand Sud regions, fostering partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives within the nutrition sector.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Global Health, Nutritional Epidemiology or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing, managing and evaluating nutrition programmes, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of results‑based management, monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams.
