Programme Officer – Conservation Action (Madagascar)

About the role

The Programme Officer will support the implementation, monitoring and coordination of the SOS Lemurs Phase II initiative in Madagascar. Working within a Madagascar‑based programme team, the officer will manage a portfolio of grants, conduct field monitoring, and help capture learning for donor reporting and impact assessment.

Key responsibilities

  • Administer day‑to‑day activities of an assigned portfolio of SOS Lemurs Phase II grants, liaising with grantees, reviewing technical reports and maintaining project trackers.
  • Plan and carry out field monitoring missions to grant‑funded sites, prepare mission reports and provide guidance on reporting, indicators and visibility requirements.
  • Collect, verify and consolidate monitoring data; support the development of the monitoring and evaluation framework, indicator tracking tools and programme dashboards.
  • Assist in the preparation of donor progress reports, mid‑term and final evaluations, and contribute to the identification of good practices across the portfolio.
  • Support capacity‑building activities for grantees, including workshops, webinars and peer‑learning events, and provide logistical support for in‑country events.

Required profile

  • Experience in grant administration and coordination within conservation or environmental programmes.
  • Familiarity with field monitoring, data collection and reporting processes.
  • Ability to work closely with multiple partners, travel to project sites in Madagascar and manage logistical arrangements.
  • Strong analytical skills for consolidating monitoring data and preparing evaluation documents.
