Senior Software Development Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Software Development Engineer at MVola, you will design, build, and continuously improve the software that powers millions of financial transactions in Madagascar. You will own solutions end‑to‑end, from business requirements to reliable production systems, leveraging AI‑assisted engineering to boost quality and speed.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement production‑grade software, APIs, services and integrations.
• Participate in architecture decisions and continuously improve existing systems.
• Use AI daily to generate code drafts, tests, documentation, review code, debug issues and explore architectural alternatives.
• Deploy safely, monitor production, investigate incidents and reduce operational complexity.

Required profile

• Strong execution mindset: prioritize simplicity, long‑term maintainability and customer impact.
• Excellent engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OOP, distributed systems, databases, API design) and ability to explain decisions to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Comfortable collaborating with large language models as part of daily workflow and leading meetings in English.

• Java and Spring Boot (or comparable strongly‑typed frameworks).
• REST API development.

• Kubernetes at scale.
