Remote Sensing, GIS & MEAL Manager

About the role

Conservation International is seeking a Remote Sensing, GIS & MEAL Manager to support the IKI Growing Greener project in Toliara, Madagascar. The role combines monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) expertise with geospatial analysis to track project performance, inform decision‑making and optimize resource allocation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy integrated MEAL systems, including a functional project database.
• Integrate remote sensing and GIS tools to enable spatial and temporal monitoring of indicators.
• Develop a results‑based monitoring framework aligned with strategic priorities, donor requirements and partner needs.
• Define KPIs, monitoring protocols and dashboards, ensuring data quality, consistency and integrity.
• Contribute to the development and operationalisation of the Africa Rangeland Watch (ARW) platform.
• Support strategic and operational planning of the H4H programme, including activity prioritisation and partner follow‑up.
• Provide capacity‑building support to local partners and communities on data collection, analysis and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in remote sensing, GIS and MEAL systems within conservation or environmental projects.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, safeguards and gender considerations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, local partners and community stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on data‑driven decision making.
