Driver – Transport & Vehicle Maintenance

About the role

The Driver will ensure safe and efficient transport of IITA staff, partners and visitors in Antananarivo and surrounding project sites. The role also covers delivery and collection of mail, equipment and supplies, as well as routine upkeep of the organization’s vehicles in line with IITA/AfricaRice policies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, water, battery, brakes, tires) and arrange minor and major maintenance.
• Keep vehicles clean and maintain the vehicle logbook according to policy.
• Organise hotel‑airport transfers for official personnel and transport authorized staff to field sites.
• Drive the office vehicle to deliver and collect cargo, mail, equipment and documents.
• Report any vehicle issues promptly to the Project Administrator and schedule regular servicing with reputable providers.
• Liaise with the Project Administrator, providing weekly activity updates and ensuring compliance with vehicle management policies.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education.
• Valid Category B driver’s licence.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant driving experience and good knowledge of road rules.
• Fluency in Malagasy and French.

Required skills

• Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle upkeep.
