Head of Ocean Freight

About the role

Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) is seeking a Head of Ocean Freight for its Madagascar operation. You will own the full profit and loss of the Ocean Freight business, driving growth, customer satisfaction and operational excellence in alignment with global trade initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a business growth plan for the Ocean Freight market in Madagascar, aligned with global trade strategies.
• Lead a high‑performing team, fostering collaboration, continuous improvement and compliance with industry regulations.
• Manage supplier relationships to optimise service delivery, cost efficiency and profitability.
• Own the Ocean Freight P&L across FCL, LCL, Bulk, Reefer, OMS and Rail, including budgeting, pricing, cost‑saving initiatives and financial controls.
• Engage with existing and prospective customers, expand market share, and drive gross profit improvement.
• Oversee seamless onboarding of new business wins and ensure exceptional service delivery.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in ocean freight or related logistics functions.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing full P&L responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relationships and drive revenue growth.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams and managing supplier networks.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in ocean freight operations.

Required skills

• Understanding of Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container Load (LCL) operations.
• Familiarity with bulk, reefer, OMS and rail freight products.
• Budgeting, pricing strategy and financial analysis capabilities.
