Country Director – Madagascar

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Country Director for Madagascar to lead its national programme from Antananarivo. The role combines strategic leadership, partnership building and operational oversight to advance the organization’s mission of Zero Hunger.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage the country strategy and programme portfolio in line with Welthungerhilfe’s global objectives.
• Represent the organization with government authorities, donors, partners and other development actors at the highest level.
• Secure and manage funding for new and follow‑on projects, ensuring financial stewardship and compliance.
• Oversee recruitment, development and retention of national staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Ensure programme quality, risk management, safety and security of staff and operations.
• Contribute to the Global Management Team by shaping organisational strategy and sharing best practices.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably at country level.
• Strong track record in partnership development and donor relations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and complex operations.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English; knowledge of French or Malagasy is an advantage.
