Driver (SC2) – Multiple Duty Stations

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting drivers (SC2) for multiple duty stations, with Bekily as the preferred location and another position identified for Fort-Dauphin. The posts are based in country offices and report to the administration or logistics officer, and involve driving light vehicles, trucks, vans, motorcycles and, occasionally, small boats. The contract is a 12-month service contract, renewable.

Key responsibilities

• Transport authorised personnel and deliver goods safely and efficiently, following UN security regulations
• Welcome officials and visitors at airports or entry points and help them with visa and customs formalities
• Keep vehicle maintenance records up to date and report daily mechanical status
• Ensure vehicles are clean, properly maintained, equipped and authorised, and report problems immediately
• Follow delivery rules and accident procedures, and carry out simple administrative tasks such as sorting, photocopying, stock management and collecting or paying bills

Required profile

• Secondary education and a valid driver's licence or official driver training
• At least two years of driving experience, preferably in an embassy, UN body or international organisation, with a good driving record
• Experience with different makes and models, including vans; preventive driving experience desirable
• Level B French; English is an advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of road and navigation rules, vehicle loading capacity and safety equipment
• Ability to read safety manuals and procedure documents, and basic first aid knowledge
• Basic ability to assess vehicle condition and make small repairs
• Communication skills and courtesy towards beneficiaries
