Finance Officer

About the role

Onja, a social enterprise that trains underprivileged youth into software developers, is looking for a Finance Officer in Toamasina, Madagascar. The Finance Officer supports the Finance team by managing daily financial operations such as payments, accounts payable and receivable, bank statement reconciliation and payroll assistance. Hiring is based on potential, attitude and cultural fit rather than specific qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and process monthly payroll in coordination with HR
• Record and organise all financial transactions and supporting documents
• Support tax payments and compliance with local regulations
• Maintain a proper archiving and documentation system for finance
• Proactively learn and improve financial systems and practices

• Strong logical thinking and a love for numbers
• Good attention to detail and a high level of integrity
• Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
• Good team player
• Based in or willing to relocate to Toamasina
• Proficient in English; reference checks are part of the evaluation process
