IT and Networking Officer

About the role

Onja, a social enterprise in Toamasina, Madagascar that trains underprivileged youth into software developers, is looking for an IT and Networking Officer. The role has two parts: build and maintain a stable, fast internet infrastructure tailored to Onja's needs, and set up computers for new and existing team members, fix hardware and troubleshoot IT problems. Hiring is based on potential, attitude and cultural fit.

Key responsibilities

• Set up computers for new and existing team members, fix computers and troubleshoot IT problems.
• Monitor internet performance, investigate cuts and downtime, communicate internet stability to the team and monitor individual device usage.
• Configure routers, DNS settings and LTE connections, position the LTE receiver for optimal reception, and manage access points and switches.
• Manage the installation of ethernet cabling and the backup internet system, including keeping sufficient internet/credit balances.
• Maintain a physical server and run internet security courses for all staff who use the internet.
• Carry out any other tasks depending on Onja's needs.

Required profile

• Commitment to a twelve-month period, with potential to renew or extend.
• Decent maths level and interest in technology.
• Reference checks are part of the evaluation process.
