Senior Training and Capacity Development Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Senior Training and Capacity Development Expert to lead the design and delivery of training programmes that support transport governance and regional integration across the ECOWAS region. The role will contribute to an EU‑funded technical assistance project aimed at building sustainable, smart, and resilient mobility systems in West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement training and capacity‑development programmes on transport governance and regional integration.
• Conduct training needs assessments and institutional capacity analyses for ECOWAS institutions and Member States.
• Develop curricula, learning materials, toolkits, manuals and other knowledge products.
• Support Training‑of‑Trainers (ToT) programmes and institutional learning initiatives.
• Advise on adult‑learning methodologies, knowledge‑transfer approaches and capacity‑development strategies.
• Organise and deliver workshops, seminars, study visits and technical learning events.
• Contribute to the development of e‑learning tools, digital training platforms and blended‑learning approaches.
• Coordinate with ECOWAS institutions, training centres, universities, development partners and regional stakeholders.
• Promote gender equality, youth participation, disability inclusion and sustainability in all training activities.
• Support monitoring, reporting and evaluation of training and capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in education, organisational development, public administration, transport, human‑resource development or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in training, institutional capacity development, organisational learning or technical assistance programmes.
• Proven experience on development or infrastructure projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
• At least 7 years of experience designing and implementing training and capacity‑building programmes, including curriculum development and ToT.
• Familiarity with transport governance, infrastructure or logistics sectors is an advantage.
