Service Engineer / Fitter (Reading)

About the role

Readypower Rail Services is expanding its rail plant hire business and seeks a motivated Service Engineer/Fitter to join the workshop team in the South East. The role involves delivering services, inspections, modifications and upgrades to the company’s fleet on a full‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance in line with equipment maintenance plans and service schedules.
• Carry out repair work and planned inspections to ensure plant and equipment are fit for purpose, including modifications and upgrades.
• Complete maintenance records accurately and promptly.
• Assist with general depot workshop maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Experience working with rail plant, agricultural or civil plant equipment.
• Good understanding of English.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Passionate, hardworking and driven.
• Desirable: PTS / Sentinel card, Level 2 Plant Repair and Maintenance qualification, LOLER certification.

Required skills

• Plant repair and maintenance (Level 2 qualification preferred).
• LOLER certified handling of lifting equipment.
