Communications Officer

About the role

Onja trains underprivileged youth into software developers through a two-and-a-half-year programme, then hires them at its outsourcing enterprise; all profits fund the next cohort of students. It is based in Toamasina, Madagascar, and is looking for a Communications Officer to tell Onja's story to the world, create engaging content, grow its audience and build trust with stakeholders. The organisation values potential, attitude and cultural fit over specific qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Support content from ideation through planning, production, publication and evaluation, aligned with Onja's goals.
• Manage and grow online communities and strengthen the digital presence.
• Monitor, analyse and report on social media and web performance to improve the approach.
• Create communications and marketing materials for tech companies and institutional donors.
• Amplify stories that advance social impact and business objectives, especially for American and European audiences.
• Coordinate cross-functional content projects across teams.

Required profile

• Proactive person who likes getting things done.
• Good writing skills; French is acceptable as it leads to good English writing.
• B2 English or close, with potential to reach C1.
