Legal Officer

About the role

Onja is a fast‑growing social enterprise that trains under‑privileged Malagasy youth to become world‑class software developers. As a Legal Officer, you will provide legal support to ensure the organisation operates within a robust legal framework, maintains compliance, mitigates risks and upholds high ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on relevant national and international laws, regulations and precedents affecting Onja’s operations.
• Draft, review, update and manage contracts and other legal documents.
• Support the Operations team in ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with Onja’s activities and projects.
• Collaborate with the People & Culture Lead to develop and update internal policies and procedures for legal compliance and best practices.
• Assist in protecting Onja’s intellectual property, including copyrights, trademarks and software licences.
• Provide administrative support to the Legal team, maintain legal files and records, and undertake additional tasks as needed.
