Programme Officer – Conservation Action (Madagascar)

About the role

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is looking for an experienced Programme Officer to support the SOS Lemurs Phase II initiative in Madagascar. Based in Antananarivo, the role will initially be performed remotely until the new country office opens.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation, monitoring and coordination of the SOS Lemurs Phase II grants portfolio.
• Manage day‑to‑day administration of assigned grants in close collaboration with the Senior Grants Officer.
• Facilitate field monitoring, reporting and data collection to inform learning and adaptive management.
• Coordinate communication between Madagascar‑based partners and the SOS Lemurs Secretariat.
• Work jointly with another Programme Officer to ensure consistent support across the portfolio.
• Contribute to other species‑conservation initiatives and project development activities led by the Species Conservation Action Team.

Required profile

• Malagasy national or holder of a valid residence or work permit for Madagascar.
• Relevant experience in conservation programme management, grant administration or related fields.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and remotely.
