Research Assistant (4 Positions)

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is hiring four Research Assistants in Antananarivo, Madagascar. This is a 2-year renewable contract. The Research Assistant provides technical and research support for IITA's research and development activities, contributing to data management and analysis, research protocol development, regulatory coordination and scientific reporting, and helping generate and share evidence to improve agricultural productivity, food security, nutrition and sustainable agriculture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the implementation of research activities.
• Consolidate the database and advise on the needs for appropriate support and training.
• Obtain and provide import authorizations in collaboration with national agricultural research systems (NARS) and regulatory bodies.
• Analyse and write up research results and help project teams publish them in reports, blogs and journal articles.
• Help project teams and partners prepare draft research protocols, such as protocols and demonstration videos.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the line supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in administration, agronomic science or a related field; project management qualification is desirable.
• Management and coordination ability gained through progressive experience, preferably in an international organisation.
• Understanding of and experience with CGIAR administrative systems is desirable.
• Bilingual, with excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility under tight deadlines, attention to detail, initiative and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Personal organisation, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
