Station Accountant

About the role

The Station Accountant ensures regular and rigorous day-to-day financial management, including bookkeeping, budget monitoring, financial reporting and compliance with IITA and World Bank procedures, while providing administrative support related to finance. The position is based in Antananarivo, Madagascar, on a 2-year renewable contract, and reports to the Project Head of Mission.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review project financial reports.
• Review partners' financial reports and prepare financial justifications.
• Answer queries from Budget Officers about projects and fund status.
• Develop, maintain and analyse budgets.
• Raise journals for account adjustments and load them into Oracle.
• Update, review and reconcile donor bills receivable with project grant income.
• Support the institute's annual audit with schedules and respond to audit queries.
• Promote the month-end budget monitoring report promptly.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Required profile

• University degree at Bac+4 level (Master's degree or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Experience managing projects funded by international donors is an asset.
• Excellent written, oral and reading communication skills.
• Strong analytical mind, honesty, good team spirit and a pleasant personality.
• Good command of French and English; knowledge of Malagasy is an asset.

Required skills

• Very good with computer applications, especially Oracle.
• Accounting and financial reporting.
