Counselling Program Lead - Online Training

About the role

Onja, a social enterprise based in Toamasina, Madagascar, trains underprivileged youth into software developers. It now wants to expand its impact by building a mental health programme that turns absolute beginners into competent counsellors able to deliver online counselling using evidence-based methods such as CBT. All trained counsellors must take regular supervision throughout their careers. The post is a 12-month commitment with possible renewal.

Key responsibilities

• Create engaging video lectures, learning activities and course content to build a complete counselling curriculum from the ground up for beginners.
• Collaborate with licensed mental health professionals and subject matter experts, incorporating their experience into the course design.
• Ensure the curriculum meets industry standards and gives graduates viable routes to professional practice.
• Apply tested instructional design theories and methods.
• Define the criteria used to assess learners' performance.

Required profile

• Active professional licensure or certification as a therapist, counsellor or mental health practitioner, and/or a university degree in mental health support or counselling; ONMP-registered Malagasy therapists are also welcome.
• At least 3 years of mental health support or counselling practice experience.
• Commitment to a 12-month period.
