IT Systems Administration Consultant – Antananarivo

About the role

PATH, a global nonprofit focused on health equity, is seeking an experienced IT Systems Administration Consultant to support the STRIDES project in Madagascar. The consultant will ensure the reliability, security, and sustainability of the national surveillance IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing IT infrastructure, including servers, security systems, connectivity, and backup solutions.
• Review and update IT governance policies, security controls, and SOPs to meet data integrity, cybersecurity, and disaster‑recovery standards.
• Evaluate system reliability and service continuity, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and recommend quality‑control measures.
• Support procurement planning and oversee deployment, configuration, and documentation of upgraded hardware, software, and security tools.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders to align IT systems with national priorities and institutionalize them within the Ministry of Health.
• Provide hands‑on systems administration training and mentorship to MOH IT staff, covering maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, security management, and backup/recovery.
• Assist country and partner technical staff to keep project activities on track.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven expertise in managing large‑scale IT infrastructure for health or government systems.
• Strong understanding of IT governance, cybersecurity, backup and disaster‑recovery, and service continuity.
• Experience working with public‑sector stakeholders and delivering capacity‑building training.
