Project Assistant - Climate Vulnerability Initiative

About the role

IOM Madagascar is recruiting a Project Assistant in Antananarivo to support a pilot initiative addressing climate vulnerability, deforestation and rural development. The project combines clean cooking, reforestation and rural access planning in Andasibe, an area of exceptional biodiversity facing growing pressure from dependence on wood energy and limited access to markets and services. The initiative supports the transition to cleaner energy and more resilient rural communities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities.
• Collect, analyse and present project information and data.
• Monitor activities and budgets and support administrative coordination.
• Prepare reports, briefing notes, correspondence, presentations and other documentation.
• Organise meetings, workshops and training sessions.
• Coordinate with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and other stakeholders.
• Support monitoring of implementing partners and identify delivery gaps.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights or Law.
• 2 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated interest in environmental sustainability, climate resilience, natural resource management, sustainable livelihoods, rural development, reforestation, clean energy or community-based development.
• Fluent French; working knowledge of English is desirable.
